Good to know. The Forest Service warns of a rare, sometimes fatal amoeba infection: do not put your head under water or drink it. There is no shade, water or restroom, and summer days can pass 100 F.
In any natural hot spring, keep your head above the water. Health officials advise it because of a rare amoeba that can enter through the nose.
New to hot springs? A slow soak is a five-step way to enjoy the water safely.
